Biography:
Ms. Liana
Jervalidze is a Caspian region policy specialist and analyst with Orbeliani
Centre for Advanced Strategic and National Security Policy Studies and a
Georgian newspaper “The 24 Hours.” She has worked with USAID contractors
(Sibley-GESP, OSC and IRIS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kennan
Institute of Advanced Russian Studies in Washington, and in independent
television production company in Tbilisi. She has been working on regional oil
policy issues for several years. Her recent work in Washington and Tbilisi has
focused on the Caspian oil policy and security issues.
Ms. Jervalidze
participated in a number of conferences dedicated to Caspian region policy
issues in US (The Kennan Institutes of Advanced Russian Studies, Jones Hopkins
School of Advanced International Studies, East-West Institute, US Senate,
etc.), NATO Headquarters in Brussels, and in Georgia. She has been on the list
of regional experts with Open Society Institute, Local Government and Public
Service Reform Initiative in Budapest, Hungary. Currently she has been working
under a special short-term Eurasia grant for Caspian region studies funded by
the State Department Bureau for Cultural and Educational Affairs administered
by the Kennan Institute of Advanced Russian Studies.
Ms. Jervalidze has been
leading a column on Caspian Region Studies with “The 24 Hours,” a Georgian
language newspaper.
She is fluent in
Georgian, Russian, English and French, and speaks some Turkish
