Fellow and Chief Fundraiser, Partnership for Social Initiative

One of the founders of the Partnership for Social Initiative, Dr. Areshidze began his career in High Energy Nuclear Physics. For many years he held the appointment of Research Professor and Head of Expedition at the Institute of Geophysics of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, where he conducted research on helium, a precursors to earthquakes. He left the academia in 1992 to pursue different business ventures and founded Glorybank, one of Georgia's first private banks. He currently serves as Vice President of the Association of Banks of Georgia. Dr. Areshidze directs Free Market and Private Enterprise studies at PSI and is in charge of the organization's fundraising activities.

Dr. Areshidze serves as Chairman, on voluntary basis, of the Trade Union of Banks and Insurance Company Employees of Georgia, a union he founded in August of 1999. He serves on several governmental advisory boards, including the State Pension Fund and the Three-Partisan Commission of Employers, Government and Trade Unions. Dr. Areshidze is also founding board member of the Business and Professional Associations' Federation of Southern Caucasus. An avid skier, he served for many years as Vice President of the Winter Sports Federation of Georgia.

Dr. Areshidze has authored two books and numerous scientific articles. He is married to Nana Areshidze. The Areshidzes have two sons, Irakly, a non-resident Fellow at PSI, and Giorgi, a Freshman at Middlebury College.

Dr. Areshidze is fluent in Georgian, Russian, English, and French.
