President, Partnership for Social Initiative One of the founders and current President of the Partnership for Social Initiative, Dr. Devi Khechinashvili received his educated in Germany, earning his Ph.D. (Dr.Rer.Nat) from the Faculty of Physics at Freidrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany. He continued his academic career at the Tbilisi State University, where he served as Senior Research Fellow in Physics. He left the academia in 1989 to pursue a career in business, serving as Director of Missani, a manufacturing and trading company based in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, and as Chairman of the Board of Rinco Insurance Company, one of the first private providers of health insurance in Georgia. Along with his activities with PSI, Dr. Khechinashvili currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Georgian Insurance Association, an organization which is playing a vital role in the development of the Georgian health and life insurance sector, in particular, and of civil society, in general. Over the years, he has participated in training programs sponsored by various German insurance companies and the Institute for Insurance Economy at University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany. Dr. Khechinashvili has organized several prominent insurance related seminars and conferences in Georgia and abroad. Dr. Khechinashvili has served as an Expert for a TACIS Project entitled "Support to the State Insurance Supervision Board," and as Project Director of a project entitled "Development of the Insurance Market in Georgia," supported b the Eurasia Foundation. In 1997, he served as member of the select committee to determine the terms of reference for a World Bank sponsored Project entitled "Health Care Financing in Georgia."
